My Cloud Cannot Connnect Externally

When I am trying to connect my cloud locally using USB3 cable from my Widows 7/10 MACHINE i get the error

An unsupported USB device has been detected.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Syed

Well, you can’t do that. The USB port on the My Cloud is for connecting another USB Drive, not a USB HOST.

You need to look at the following link and read up on the My Cloud, https://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904&lang=en
plus read the User Manual for your version of My Cloud.

The My Cloud is a network attached storage device (NAS), NOT an external USB hard drive. If you want to directly connect it to your computer then connect it to the Ethernet RJ/45 networking port. Otherwise the My Cloud is designed to be connected to a local network router/switch.

The USB port on the My Cloud is for attaching external USB hard drives to either expand the storage capacity or to backup the My Cloud to the external USB hard drive.

If you haven’t done so already you really should read through the My Cloud User Manual (see link below) to learn more about the My Cloud and its features. Also see the My Cloud Support site for more information and answers to common questions about the My Cloud:
