My Cloud 3TB Reset Not Working

My partner lost the password for the drive so I tried the 4 second and then the 40 second reset. When I try “connect as” using “admin” as the user and no password, it does not work. I’ve unplugged, I’ve shut down and restarted and nothing works. Here’s the hardware:

WD 3TB My Cloud (5 years old?) connected via ethernet cable to router
MacBook Pro running OS 10.10.5
WD My Cloud App (oddly does not give version number)
Connecting via WiFi
Can only connect as guest.
