I just purchased the My Passport backup unit on November 30, 2018 from Target.
The unit is not recognized on my PC.
When I plugged it into my MacBook Pro, the following message appeared.
What is it telling me?
Tuxera NTFS
Tuxera NTFS could not mount /dev/disk2s1
at /Volumes/My Passport because the following problem occurred:
CBCIO activated with:
cp.fildes=3
cp.blockSize=524288
cp.items=32
cp.mode=1
cp.flushInterval=1000
The disk contains an unclean file system (0, 0).
The file system wasnāt safely closed on Windows. Fixing.

NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or itās a
SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows
then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very
important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate
it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g.
/dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the ādmraidā documentation
for more details.
WD wants to charge me $5.00 for shipping it back to them for a replacement using an RMA.
I donāt agree that I should have to pay anything for shipping if their unit fails to work.
Perhaps, I should just return it to Target, but Iām not informed as to their return policy for electronic items such as this.
