My Book World Edition II "TIME"

The disk works without any problems, but I’m worried that I can’t set the current date. So I’m wondering if there’s any way to modify the system or reinstall it, since it’s no longer supported, so it could be downloaded for free, right?

It sounds like you’re concerned about setting the correct date or managing your system on an unsupported version, and possibly looking for ways to reinstall or modify it. Here’s how you could approach it:

If your system is no longer supported but you’re looking to modify or reinstall it, you could try the following options:

  1. Check for System Updates: Sometimes, even older versions of macOS may still receive security updates. You can check under System Preferences > Software Update to see if any updates are available.
  2. Reinstall macOS: You can reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery by restarting your Mac and holding Command + R. This allows you to reinstall the macOS version that was originally installed or the latest compatible version for your Mac, even if it’s no longer actively supported. However, note that if your version is unsupported, you may not get updates anymore.
  3. Modify Date Settings: If you want to set the date manually, you can try setting it in System Preferences > Date & Time. If that doesn’t work due to system restrictions, you might need to make sure that your system’s time zone is correctly configured, or you could adjust the date through the Terminal app by using a command like:
    sudo date MMDDhhmmYY (MM=month, DD=day, hh=hour, mm=minute, YY=year).
  4. Look for Free Downloads: If you’re referring to a specific software or system version, ensure that it’s available from an official source. If the version you’re looking for is officially discontinued, be cautious of third-party sources offering free downloads, as they might not be safe.
