My Book World Edition II connect to PC without router

I bought My Book World Edition II and use it in office with router.

At home i do not have router and a am asking can i connect it directly to PC?

I would set static Ip address on My Book (192.168.1.199) and static IP on PC (192.168.1.198)

Is it safe to try and would it work?

Hey i have a MBWE . I reset it by pressing the reset button at the back. I’m trying to connect it to PC directly and the WD discovery says “No network devices found” , can you please help me.
