My Book World Edition 1 Use with Mac Time Machine

I have a My Book World Edition (white light) 1 and am trying to setup backups for a MacBook Air using Time Machine.  I found instructions on the WD support site implying that this will work with my setup.  The laptop is using OS 10.10 Yosemite.  

When I follow the instructions using Time Machine I can select the “Set Up Time Machine” button and am given the option to “Choose Backup Disk”.  On this list I have my “wd_backup” drive listed.  At this point I never get prompted for the “Connect” button and don’t get to enter my username and password for the backup.  

Should this setup work using the My Book World Edition 1?  If so, what do I need to do?

Hi there and welcome to the WD community.

If i recall correctly the username was wd_backup and then the password was backup. I am sorry if i dont remember if the first letter was upper or lower case.
