My book will not let me recover documents from old PC

I have new HP with window 8 My old PC was running windows 7

I got the pictures down loaded but how do I recover the documents

What did you used to save the documents? A program or did you just copy them manually. If you used smartware you will see a folder named smartware.swstor, if you explore this folder, you will see your backup.
