My unit worked well for a couple of years but pluged it in yesterday and just got clicking sound … front blue light does not light up. tried removing HD from case unsing alternative box with same result … read post here about assigning drive a letter (not sure how to do that i use windows 7), anyone able to help me???

So does mine. It’s a problem with the USB cable. I tried another one, it’s better but not perfect. I tried to contact the spport from WD, but no response for the moment…
Well, if there is a rhythmic clicking coming from the drive, then there is a problem and it will need to go to a data recovery service.
