Nothing but frustration. Won’t stay unlocked. When goes to sleep (even though it is set on never) does not sync up or unlock. Have to hard boot to recognize - hate the product. I’m crazy. Called support - sent a .pdf of the manual - no help.
Here is how to keep the drive stays on:
You need to unchecked the “Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible” from the Energy Saver screen.
Here is how to do it:
From the “Go” drop down menu go to “Utilities”
Go to “System Preferences”
Go to Energy Saver
Unchecked the “Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible”
After that the WD external drive should be always on.
For the problem with drive is not stays unlock,
it sounds like you need to power cycle the drive after
you unlock it before the new change takes effect.
Sometime restart the computer is needed too.
