My Book Studio II - sleep issues

I have a My Passport Studio drive, which works fine when I plug it into the USB port of my router to access over the wireless network (Apple Airport Extreme).

If I plug my Studio II drive into the USB port on the same router, I can access it over the wireless fine. But after a while of non-use it goes to sleep. Waking it up from sleep over the wireless connection then takes so long that I need to just unplug it and plug it back into the USB port again!

It doesnt do this when used locally.

Is there any way I can stop it from going into its power save / sleep mode?

The Passport Studio power saving default setting is 15 minutes,

You can control it if connected to the USB or Firewire port on the computer.

But,  not from the Apple airport Extreme unless your router has option to do so.

You might want to check the router manual for the power setting if it allow.

Otherwise connect it to the USB or Firewire port on the computer and

unchecked the “Put the hard disk (s) to sleep when possible” under Energy Saver menu.

So the Passport drive will stays on.
