My Book Studio 1TB Problem

Hi

I’ve just purchased a 1TB My Book Studio external HDD. I’ve installed the latest software and the lastest firmware. Its connected to my iMac via the firewire cable. I’ve set a password the on HDD. When I turn my iMac on. I click on the black WD icon on the bar at the top of the screen and select to unlock the drive. When I do this nothing happens. I then go to my Applications folder on the dock and open WD Smartware. I can unlock the drive via this. Why can’t I unlock the drive from the WD icon at the top of the screen? Any help would be appreciated.

Take a look at page 32 in the user manual and you will see there are 2 ways to lock and unlock your drive
