i have been using my book since 2014. i have no remembrance of what my password is. 5 months ago i lost my hard drive on my Dell desktop and had to reformat it. since then i have not been able to address my book. Unlock.exe will not allow me look at my drive since i do not remember my password. what options do i have to try and recover my password besides contracting some 3rd party vendor to recover my book drive?

WD Security protects hard drives with 256 bit AES hardware encryption and it doesn’t allow to access device data during when the drive is protected. It is recommended to get more information about the password and unlock drive in order to get data. Otherwise, you need to format the drive if want to use it from the start.
