Someone please help me. My WD My Book is possessed. I have it connected via USB to my laptop. Here’s the issue:
- The drive opens and closes multiple times a minute sometimes a second - with no regular interval.
- I can only access or save things to the drive if I can get it in within it’s crazy opening and closings.
- By opening and closings, I mean that the MS Explorer pops open to that drive and closes constantly.
- This takes the focus of the mouse cursor away with it, so anything I’m working gets haulted until I move the cursor back.
I’m struggling because I can’t get any of the information off of the thing and it has all of my backup on it. I need to access it daily, but now it’s almost nothing more than an expensive bauble on my desk.
Here’s what I have:
- MS Windows 10 (it did on MS Win8 as well)
WD said it was a power issue. I’ve changed all of the cords, the power strips, everything. Nope. OpenCloseOpenClose…
