My Book Live (3Tb) needs new firmware

Hi all,

I only want to say that MyBookLive needs new updated firmware: if you copy thousand of pictures, mp3, movies, etc. (everyone of us I think…) the hdd doesn’t go to sleep if you don’t disable network access, iTunes access, etc.

And after disabling everything, once the hdd goes to sleep, after some minutes, without any reason, the device wake up… 

So, please Western Digital listen our posts: edit and publish a new, improved firmware (or something else…) to correct this boring bug. We can’t hear all the day the disk grind and grind without end…

you disabled media sharing as a general setting?  Did you also turn off sharing on the individual shares?  If you add thousands of photos, the MBL will transcode them for sharing, or create thumbnails or whatever it does.  I would give it a day or two by itself and it should start sleeping.

now, there seems to be a bug where if you have wd2go enabled at all the drive never goes to sleep, but that’s separate.
