My Book Factory Reset

I have performed a Drive Erase on my WD My Book - purchased in 2013. I am trying to follow the directions given for restoring the factory image. However, I follow the directions given and I get the error “application not started from drive.” Could someone here please provide some more guidance?

Same issue, same question.
Have been in contact with WD Support, cannot get the rep to correctly understand the question.

Copy the software to the drive , open WD Smartware on PC, it should work as intended.
Looks like a case of bad directions.
