I am having a problem with System Restore with Win7. System does not restore properly because it failes to extract the original copy of the directory from the restore point. Is this some place in My Book ? If so where and should I retieve to the original location?
I don’t belive System Restore would be on your external unless you made changes. Or are you talking about Windows Backup? There are a lot things that cause problems with System Restore.

I agree. system restore is about restoring your operating system to a previous restore point. if you haven’t set one, it won’t restore it to anything. if you’re looking to restore your data from the external drive, then you do that through smartware, if that’s what you’re using. if you’re using windows backup, you have to open the backup and do a restore from there.
