I have a 3TB My Book Essentials External drive that I got a few years back. It’s been giving me some problem backing up the data. Also, it takes sometimes up to three hours before I can see the folders on the drive; it just keeps doing whatever in the meantime. I was thinking of doing a low level format on the drive and re do the settings for a backup drive. Was wondering which files (all of them) I should download from the support? Are there any software files I should run on the My Book? And which s/w files should I run on the PC? The s/w that came loaded on the drive when I purchased it is not available on the site anymore. What are the benefits and drawbacks of the newer version? I don’t want to save data on the cloud. Any help is greatly appreciated.
