Hi

I just bought the My Book Essential 1.5TB ext drive. Still shrink wrapped but I understand the drive comes with  some software including backup trials.

I intend just do drag or drop or use my NAS backup software to backup only data to the WD drive which will be attached to a usb port at the back of my NAS.

Can I use WD without instalaling any software?

Yes you can the back up software is optional. You shouldnt have any problems just dragging and dropping info over to the drive.
