I upgraded the drive to the latest firmware but still the drive gets ejected after a few minutes. I can then roll back to 10.6.8 booting from the mybook. Anyone have any advice? Or should I wait for 10.8.6 to be released?
Did you try testing the drive with Disk Utility first aid?
do you mean testing with disk utility first aid before upgrading to mountain lion? I can’t test afterwards as the disc just gets ejected.

What model number does the drive have?
There are multiple My Book drives and not all of them get those updates or support the latest Mac OS X.
