I have a My Book Essential Edition 2.0 and a laptop running Windows 8.
I haven’t used this external drive in a few years. My father-in-law recently passed away and I desperately need to access the pictures on this drive. Please help!!

When I plug in the drive, a blue light flashes approximately every 2 seconds, but my computer did not recognize that the drive was connected. I tried to download the drivers from the WD website but the WD setup wizard wouldn’t display the words correctly, just saying Undefined.

What do I need to do to access the files? Please help.

Is the drive showing up in the Disk Management?

I am in a similar situation. There are photos on my My Book Essential edition i cant replace
I looked in the Manage Devices and cant see a driver … not sure what happened to it.
Cant find a place to download drivers…
I can “see” it in my “device and Printers” but cant see it in my folders… cant access it the pics…
Has anyone found a work around?
