my book duo was restarting or something it would show up then disappear over and over. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and its fine now its only 5 months old My first thought is the drive is going to die? But I hope not. what would cause this?

Mostly, such issues are caused due to USB cable, used to connect drive with the computer. Try to use another USB cable to connect with the computer.
If issue still persists, try to use drive on other computer or with another power adapter.
