I’m interested in purchasing a 2 drive external enclosure, but I want to run the drives individually (no RAID). The primary purpose of the storage is for backups, but I also want to occasionally double it up as media content for my Smart TV. The issue here is my Smart TV (Samsung) appears to only recognize external USB storage when it contains a single drive. Is there a practical way to offline one of the 2 drives in the My Book Duo when connecting to a TV?
I think you can try by configuring both drives as JBOD. That way you can remove the drive individually as of need. Just as a note, better to put the drive back in to the same slot that was remove from. Have fun…
