My Book Corrupt - PLEASE HELP!

Hi there,

I have been having trouble deleting the trash on my external My Book and it was recommend that I repair and reset the permissions. Both Verify Disk Permissions and Repair Disk Permissions are shaded and therefore can not do those.

I ran the disk utility and Verified Disk and it is telling me “The volume My Book was found corrupt and needs to be repaired”
Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk.

I clicked Repair Disk and got the following error:
Error: couldn’t unmount disk

Anyone know what this means and how I proceed?

Hi, if you received the “Couldn’t unmount disk” error, reboot the computer and then try to run the process again without doing anything else.

Hi Iluna. I tried that it still doesn’t work. I’m still getting the Couldn’t unmount disk error. :-/
