My Book attached to USB port of router no longer accessible in network

I attached a 4 GB My Book to my Linksys router via its USB 3.0 port about a month ago. It was immediately recognized both in my Linksys router web app and in my network on Windows 10 file explorer. A few days ago it disappeared from my network in windows. However, it still shows up in the Linksys router web app. I unplugged it from the router, removed the power, plugged it back in and reattached it to the router’s USB port. The light turns on, I can hear it spinning but it still won’t show up in my network.

It was working fine for a month. Nothing changed that I’m aware of. I don’t think the drive is bad because it does show up in my router web app as attached and the current amount of available storage is correct. It just no longer appears in my network where I use to access it’s contents.

Any suggestions?

Hello, welcome to the community.

To completely make sure that the drive is not damaged, you need to plug it in directly to the computer and make sure that is working.

Have you checked if the router did a firmware update or software update by any chance? Have you checked if the drive is seen by a different computer over the network.

I attached the drive to my laptop and it was detected immediately and works perfectly. I have not updated any software ot firmware. Also, this problem exists on all the computers on my network. The drive no longer appears on any of them.
