I just recently bought a 3tb My Book Essential, and since buying it have had nothing but problems with it on one of my laptops. Any other computer I hook it up to, it works fine. I have a Toshiba Satellit P505 laptop running Windows 7 64bit. Any time I plug it in, I get error messages ranging from “the device is not working properly” to it telling me I need to format the drive. This is when it actually works. On the rare times that it does recognize the drive, when I attempt to copy something to it, it tells me it no longer exists, despite being able to open the drive and all folders I have put on it. This has become increasingly frustrating, and rather confusing since I have a seperate WD My Passport 750gb which works perfectly. I have tried calling customer service and after being on hold waiting for someone for over 5 minutes, the person asked my problem, then put me on hold again, only hanging up on me instead.
Can anyone help me with this?
