My Book 3 + USB 2.0

Hi all,

I’ve noticed that when I want to connect my “My Book 3”, which has “USB 3.0”, to a computer that has only “USB 2.0” ports, I still have to install the “USB 3.0” driver. Otherwise the disk isn’t recognized. Is this normal?

I thought that if the disk is backward compatible, it shouldn’t need a driver when connecting it to a “USB 2.0” port.

The My Book 3.0 doesn’t require any drivers. It uses the generic drivers that are built into the Windows OS. The drivers that were included with the unit are for the USB 3.0 controller card. I even verified it myself and connected my drive into a computer with a USB 2.0 port with a USB 2.0 cable and it worked fine. Windows installed the drivers for it automatically. Do you have the issue on another system? Did you try a system that doesn’t have a USB 3.0 controller card in it?
