My book 2.0 500g wont load onto my computer

this kind of **bleep** because im a carpenter not a computer geek and all my info is on this book and now it wont do anything but let me unlock my password,  is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction before i take my framing hammer to this machine.

  my old computer fryied and i got a cheap replacement until i get my taxes but the computer seems to work fine , so i don’t know what to do please help!!!

Some more information will help.  What was the old OS and what is the new one? Did you use backup software? If so did you install on the new PC?
