My book 1 Tb failed Smart test

Hi

My 1Tb  My book essential 2.0 hard drive failed smart test.

The reallocated sector count is shown ID:1, Value:42, Threshold:140, Worst:42, Warranty:1.

I would appreciate if you can let me know how can this problem be solved.

I have the same problem. The only difference is that I have 1TB external hard drive. The common problem that we have is the Smart status/test is showing “FAIL”

anurag, it is advisable to replace the drive. Backup the data on the drive and then do a RMA.

Your drive probably has a few thousand bad sectors. Backup your data and replace the HD.

Try a comprehensive SMART diagnostic tool. Look for reallocated, pending, or uncorrectable sectors.
