.MTS File wont play / play properly

Hello altogether,

I have a problem with playing back the .MTS Files of my Canon HF100 Camcorder. With the 1.02 FW and the 1.03 FW-Branch they played fine. Starting with the 1.04 Firmwares I have the following problem:

File takes long to start playback. Then playback without sound for some time (seems dependant on the overall playtime of the file - long playtime means long time without sound at first). Then playback seems to freeze for some time and continues with sound which is out of sync. Starting with the 1.04.22_V I dont have any sound at all.

Rollback to the 1.03 FW fixes this but then all other new features /fixes are gone also. What can be done about that - is that a problem for the devs to fix in a new release? I hope you can help me.

Greets,

McConnor

Are you using the firmware that was released two days ago?   V 1.04.31?

Release 1.04.31 (4/6/2011

  • Resolved playback problems with certain .m2ts files.

Sorry that it took so long to check your suggestions. Flashed the newest FW 1.04.31 but the problem remains:

Loading the video (specs above) takes for ages

then no sound -  video is fine

With 1.03.49 no problem - well loading isnt exactly fast but much! better and: sound is just fine!

What can be done about that?

I have been looking at buying either the Live Plus (and a USB drive) or the hub, but this post has me spooked.  The main reason I want one - for now - is to play videos from my Canon HD Camcorder (HFM31).

I’ve seen one thread in which the OP said the problem is fixed, but a couple others that say the opposite.

Any update on this?

Thanks.

I’m in the same boat.  My sony cam outputs .mts videos.  Some threads say they play fine, others have problems.  I’d like to buy something off the shelf that plays those files and my older home vids, and possibly stream from providers like Netflix, but there seems to be too many complaints to make it worth my time.

FWIW my vids are stored on a WHS.  I plan on ripping the kids movies and dumping them there, too, but haven’t researched the best format yet.  I do have a wire run so thankfully it need not use wireless.

It looks like the PBO does play the .mts files fine, but isn’t geared towards streaming from providers.  In the end I may have to just spend a bit of money and build a pc to do what I want.
