Hi! I’m owner of My Book Essential, fist version (2TB USB2). This version use a portion of disk with a virtual CD with WD SmartWare Software.
My disk is with bad sectors after 12 years allways on connected with my WD HD TV Live maybe can have issues.
After disassembling and connected with a PC to retrieve the data, SATA is better than USB2 connection, I found the disk has an ecryption provided by the WD Interface from SATA to USB.
I need to know how is possible to disabled it to be ready for read in any PC as other disk.
