I have some wmv files that will not play. After I try playing them, the files that used to play now won’t unless I do a restart.
Any ideas?
Please post the full TEXT output of MEDIAINFO for one of the WMV files.
That problem has been around for a while. The Live and Live Plus also have that problem. If you play a file that is corrupt or a file that the box cannot handle it sometimes causes the WD box to hang up and not play anything else until you do a reset. That is why you were asked to post the information about the file that is causing the trouble.
None of my avi files (which I converted from tape) play. The first section below are the details. Below that is are the details of one of my wmv which doesn’t play and also locks up the others from playing.
I would appreciate help in getting them to play (convering them?) or else a way of identifying the problem files so I can isolate them from the others as it is a pain to restart each time!
Also, as this seems to be a known problem, why no fix?

I’ve never heard of a YUY2 codec. The WD definately doesn’t support that.
As to the WMV file, I don’t think the WD supports WVC1 or VC1 in a WMV container.
