I am running Mounain Lion 10.8.1 and my new 4TB Studio Edition II seems to mount fine right out of the box. WD support me to install this firmware ( http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/wdsmartwareupdate/firmware.asp?id=wdfGeneric&os=mac) but when I run it it says “drive not found”.
Do I even need that firmware if the drive is mounted ok?
If I do need the firmware, any advice for getting it to recognize my drive? I have followed instrucitions and unplgugged everything except the drive I am trying to update. And have mounted/unmounted several times.
