Model WD5000H1U-00

I tried to do a search but I couldn’t find my exact problem. I went to backup my PC to my WD book and plugged it had been unplugged from the electric for about 3 weeks. I plugged it in and the blue light came on and it showed up in my computer directory. I clicked backup on the PC and walked away. Came back three hours later and the WD book was not on at all. How can I get access to my files to transfer them to a new WD external hard drive?? Literally all my children’s baby pictures and pictures from the last 15 years are on this thing. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hello,

Make sure the drive is plugged in directly into a wall outlet.
If possible try replacing the power adapter and USB cable.

Thanks, my hubby replaced the cord and it is very sluggish when you plug it in so bad that I can’t even get anything moved over from it. I think I’m going to take it to Best Buy and see if they can get the data from it and moved to the new WD I bought (and registered!).
