I have this drive for 6 years so no complaints. I cant access the drive i can only see the ip address.
I get the message error occurred. My question is if i buy a new bigger WD drive can i recover the files etc, stored on my old drive.directly to the new drive.

The OS of the unit is stored within the hard drive itself. Replacing the enclosure is likely to further damage the unit.
I’d recommend contacting a specialized data recovery service company if this is a concern.
