MKVs from other countries and codecs

With my 2 year old wd - live I’ve got major problems playing foreign mkv files with different formats!

is this new wd - live able to play those files???

MKVs aren’t region-specific. Not sure what problem you’re having.

As TonyPH12345 said “MKVs aren’t region-specific”, it doesn’t matter that they are foreign films, all that matters is how they were encoded.

Your question is sort of like asking, “My old dog want eat a particular dog food, do you think my new dog will?”.  It’s not really a question that can be answered, especially since no one knows how your mkv’s were encoded.

thx… this file for example is not working with wd live wifi:

The reason it won’t work is this:

Format profile                           : High 10@L4.0

The WD hardware cannot decode this profile because it only has 8-bit video decoding paths.

And NO, that profile will never be supported with the current hardware. Video decoding is done in hardware on these devices and WD cannot add software codecs to get arround this because the CPU does not have the necessary processing power.
