Mkv 1080p audio e video jumps

first off all, sorry for my english.

i have a problem (i’m very disappointed about it)  when i play a mkv 1080p.

the movie is starting very well and also the audio is ok…but in the middle of the film,
the audio is gone away and the video  goes in spurts ( not fluid ).
if i press reverse (or forward button) for a small time (1 sec) and then play , every thinks is going
very well.

this probmem appear more then 1 time into the film (more o less 5/10 times).

i tried with more movies (mkv 1080p), but the problem always appear.

HERE more specific information:
video container: matroska
audio (A_DTS)
audio (A_AC3)
with both type of audio this problem appear.

my WT TV LIVE is updated to the last firmware version

if you need more info. or my english is not clear…
i will reply as soon as possible.

some one know how to resolve this problem or have the same problem ???

thx for your collaboration.

Welcome to the forums.

How are you playing your movies?  If wireless, that would explain a lot (and is most likely a problem with your wireless network).  If you are playing directly from an attached USB drive (attached directly to the Live) that’s another problem entirely.

And after you updated the firmware did you do a reset of the Live?  Very important to try this.

thx for your answer.

usualy my WD-Liive play movie from LAN, but i tried also to attach the USB device (it is WD Hard Disk), but the problem is stil present in both scenarious.

do you think that i have to do a resest of WD-LIVE ??

also if i had NO problem when i updated it.

Please use the MediaInfo tool to post the specifics about these files.   If they are UNCOMPRESSED Blu-Rays, it’s possible the bit rate may exceed your LAN / Server or even the WDTV’s capabilities.

Doing a reset via the side button, a reset to factory defaults via internal menu and unplugging from the power for some minutes can do no harm and may indeed help with any problems you have.

hi TonyPh12345 here the info that you have requested.

thx so much for your help.

Hmmm.   I don’t see anything out of the ordinary there.   An 11.1 Megabit/sec over-all bit rate is not bad at all.

But the fact that you see this problem on MULTIPLE MKV’s, even on local storage seems concerning.   Do these play normally if you play them on your PC?

hi TonyPh12345,

as i wrote the problem appear in the middle of movie … (in all my mkv video).

I will try to  do also this test.

I will inform you …but i think this is not a movie problem.

—but i think this is not a movie problem.–

I tend to agree, but just ruling out common issues.

Also, does the problem always occur at the SAME PLACE in the movie, every time, or is it random?

If so, it could be a very high bit-rate burst that is not seen in MediaInfo.  MediaInfo only shows the average.

If it always occurs at the same scenes, you could try using VLC which will show the bit-rate throughout the whole video.

Hi all,

yesterday I did a device reset.

I connected the same  hard disk.

I run the film I mentioned above info.

ALL seems to work, I didn’t  find shots or loss of audio.

Today i will  test again , hoping that the reset of the device was the cause of
malfunction.

I thank you and keep you informed tuttti

Hi

If  a DEVICE RESET worked for you I really am unluky… No device reset have worked for me.

I have tryed all.

Only soluion 4 me was to go back to the old firmware.

I use network share (that is why I have the “Live”) but I have also tested with a usb HDD directly connected… same problem.

I’m despearte and I hope someone can solve this…

Same problem for me… Unfortunately most of mine 1080p movies in mkv have problems with jumping screen and out-of-sync. It happens mostly after 10-20 minutes of playback in totally random moments (same movie played twice - two different jumping moments). Heres some details about one of those files: Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 5 frames Muxing mode : Container profile=Unknown@4.1 Codec ID : V\_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 1h 44mn Bit rate : 9 350 Kbps Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 816 pixels Display aspect ratio : 2.35:1 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel\*Frame) : 0.249 Stream size : 6.67 GiB (84%) Writing library : x264 core 98 r1629 2e81ce1 Audio ID : 2 Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Codec ID : A\_DTS Duration : 1h 44mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 1 510 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 24 bits Stream size : 1.10 GiB (14%) Language : English I’ve done a test and connected HDD to my PC (movies are stored and played from HDD plugged to “Live” trough USB port) and everything is working fine, problem appears only on WD HD Live.
