Missing half of drive space

Hi,

I’ve got a 2TB WD disk ( WD20EARS ) which reports as a 1 TB capacity harddrive.

The disk has currently no partitions on it. So I tried the Western Digital LifeGuard Diagnostics tool for Windows, which also reports it to have 1 TB of capacity. Writing zeros didn’t help either.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix the disk back to factory settings. With double the amount of sectors?

Thanks you

FIXED:

I made a bootable USB flash drive using Rufus (  http://rufus.akeo.ie/ ) with the option to use FreeDos as ISO.

Then I copied HDAT2.exe (  http://www.hdat2.com/ ) to the flash drive.

Booted from USB flash drive, executed HDAT2.exe and selected the faulty drive using the menu to SET MAX ADDRESS

because it told me 1 TB was ‘user hidden’.

Problem solved

thanks for reporting back
