Media server streaming + external srts?

According to WD TV Live spec it’s supposed to support srts (and others), but is it supported when streaming from media server (e.g TVersity) _without_ transcoding? It sure works when streaming through “Network Shares”, but media server? Anyway, I haven’t managed to get it working.

No.  WDTV doesn’t support external subs via media servers, only local storage and network shares.

If you must use media server, your only option is to re-MUX.  You don’t have to transcode anything.

MKVMerge can do it in a matter of minutes depending on the size of the original file.
