Media library on or off?

I was wondering what peoples general view of the use of the media library are

I’ve found that turning it off significantly improves the browsing speed on the UI, although the ‘get media info’ option is not available with it off, which is a bit of a pain.
What is the purpose of the media library? I keep my music in Artist>Album folders, and my movies/TV shows in folders too.

The dashboard seems pretty pointless and I seem to get on ok without it.

Are there any other advantages to having the media library enabled?

Media library enables extended navigation, content filtering, sorting, searching, metadata tagging, Filename replacement, etc.

Without Media Library enabled, none of that is available.

So if those features aren’t important to you, then there’s no harm in disabling it.

It seems you can use the metadata tagging facility with media library on, and the files retain and show the data when you turn media library off (well, most of it anyway)

I’m not against the media library, I just find it a little clunky in its current form.

it will only display it in the Gallery View.   It won’t  work with any other view.
