MBWE won't let go of USB drive

Clicking on ‘Safely Remove Disk’ returns “Unable to remove the USB device. Device or resource busy.”

SSH in and all I can see (apart from TranscoderT taking up all available resource whilst not apparently affecting anything) under top is a user instantiated afpd process that I can’t kill.

Before I simply unhook the drive anyway:

– is this a bad idea, do I risk data loss

– any clues on why the MBWE won’t release the drive

Cheers,

Steve

Answering my own question.

Embarrased to say it was ^&*(ing obvious really.

The afpd was running because I had the drives mounted automatically on this mac laptop (D’oh).

Once I unmounted the network shares the disconnect ran fine.

It tends to happen to us all, don’t blame yourself.
