MBWE 1TB (white light) offline files error

I recently redid my home network and upgraded everyone to Win 7. One of the PCs, the one I will use, got Win7 Pro installed specifically so I could have the offline folder option available for my Documents folders. The other PCs are all Home Edition.

Every user has an ID and a folder on the MBWE. User names and passwords are identical on the PCs and on the MBWE. Location property on my Documents folder on the PC has been redirected to the MBWE (\ServerA\User\Documents - example). Files are all available as expected when connected to the home network. “Make Available Offline” is checked for Documents. The little green logo for offline appears and everything looks good. But…

Nothing syncs back to the PC for offline use. When I go off the network, all file icons are grayed .txt icons with an “X” over them. The filenames and folder tree appear to be OK.

When doing manual Sync in Sync Center, every (and I mean every) file in my Documents shows a Sync Error.

“The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.”

Any suggestions?

(Note: This seemed to be a common problem from Google Search. I also checked the Microsoft solutions site and read a lot about Oplocks and found that most of the keys they suggest to update don’t exist on my PC. Similarly, same problems posted by Cisco and Seagate users were solved when a firmware update was released for the drives. So… I am assuming this is a WD problem to solve.)

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

Regards,

Just posted my fix on another thread;  http://community.wdc.com/t5/My-Book-Live/Mybooklive-NAS-Windows-7-and-Offline-Files/m-p/256672

Hope it helps (and yes, it requires a samba config update to make it work)
