MBLD 6TB Continously Blinks Green

Hello.

Usually on the first Sunday of each month the MBLD seems to do some reindexing or whatever, but usually finishes around 5pm. During this time the drive is accessable for streaming. However, it is nearly 24 hours later than usual and the drive is still doing what it started on Sunday and streaming results in a very choppy experience.

Here are the last couple entries from the daemon.log file, just wondering if anyone can tell me that this is fine and it’s just doing what it’s supposed to:

Jun 2 00:57:24 HoyNAS mdadm[4193]: RebuildStarted event detected on md device /dev/md0
Jun 2 01:14:13 HoyNAS mdadm[4193]: Rebuild38 event detected on md device /dev/md0
Jun 2 01:30:53 HoyNAS mdadm[4193]: Rebuild76 event detected on md device /dev/md0
Jun 2 01:41:23 HoyNAS mdadm[4193]: RebuildFinished event detected on md device /dev/md0
Jun 2 01:41:23 HoyNAS mdadm[4193]: RebuildStarted event detected on md device /dev/md2
Jun 2 01:46:03 HoyNAS mdadm[4193]: RebuildFinished event detected on md device /dev/md2, component device mismatches found: 1408
Jun 2 01:46:03 HoyNAS mdadm[4193]: RebuildStarted event detected on md device /dev/md3
Jun 2 17:22:52 HoyNAS dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on eth0 to 192.168.1.1 port 67
Jun 2 17:22:52 HoyNAS dhclient: DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
Jun 2 17:23:07 HoyNAS dhclient: bound to 192.168.1.116 – renewal in 302362 seconds.

I’m not knowledgeable about Linux, but notice it found a component device mismatch, wondering if that’s why it could still be working? I do not have DLNA or iTunes turned on, I just use the MBLD as a network hard drive and then browse the file system from my WD TV.

I’m running version 02.31.08-067 in RAID 01. I can access the UI, both drives are listed as good condition.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Kelly

Hello,

Normally, the blinking green light is in reference to the unit performing read or write commands
to/from the Hard Drive Disk (HDD).

We recommend ensuring that your device is up to date with the latest firmware, as this may easily resolve the problems you are experiencing.  Information regarding the procedures of how to update the firmware for your device can be located at the following link.

How to update the firmware on a My Book Live Duo

According to the daemon log, the MBLD is currently in the middle of a event on md device /dev/md3, is it safe to update the firmware during this process? Can I just restart the device instead and see if that helps? It’s been 3 days now and it’s still going on.

Also, what exactly is happening when it initiates the rebuild events?
