My book essential 1.5 TB enclosure failed so I purchased a replacement
board on ebay. The original board is part # 4061-705094-001 REV. AD I
purchased part # 4061-705094-301 REV. AD Those are the part numbers
printed on the white label. On both parts the pcb printed part number is
4061-705094-001 REV. A. So essentially these parts are identical except
they are loaded with different firmwares. The 001 is loaded with
firmware for a my book essential enclosure. The 301 is loaded with
firmware for a WD elements enclosure. I am unable to view the contents
of the drive because the drive is encrypted with a password which
apparently the WD elements has no password encryption option. If I can
get my hands on the firmware file for a My Book Essential drive I can
use the WDI_4327 drive updating tool included with the universal update
tool to update the firmware from a WD elements drive to WD My Book
essential drive.
Where can I get the firmware file for a My Book Essential Drive?
