Low tech solution for high tech problem

#1

The WD My Passport Essential SE 1TB drive comes with a notoriously bad USB port/ cable combination. Breathe on the dcable and it will fall out.

So, here is a workable solution. Get a roll of 3/4" wide electrical tape and tape that ■■■■■■ in place.

It’s possible there could be something wrong with the cable.  I’d call our Customer Support and see if you can get another cable.

I have to say that I have the same problem with the 1Tb drive, but not with any of the others…  Why did WD elect to change it…?  I just have to breathe on mine and the drive resets itself and we start all over again - not what you need on a drive for portable off site backups of a server…  Cable also seems to be stiffer than the previous ones, so more likely to cause a problem at the connection.

I love the Passport Drives - brilliant, but in this instance I feel more than a little let down!

Come on WD - fix it please.
