Lost Public share from power failure

I have an EX2 at another site that had an extended power outage.  When the EX 2 was powered up Drive 1 failed.  So my volume is now degraded but I have lost my public share.  I am working with WD to get a new drive but my users need access to the data.  Can I get the data off of drive 2?  Tech Support is tellilng me that I can not access the machine until both drives are healthy and the volume is rebuilt.  I find this hard to believe but can I get to the data and pull it off the EX2 somehow?

Welcome to the Community. Which RAID level do you use? Some RAID levels do needed to be rebuilt before access is granted in order to ensure data integrity and prevent further degradation.
