"Lost Password"?

My Passport Ultra was accidentally disconnected.  When I reconnected it, I was asked for a password.  I never set one up - I’m the only user. Do I have to reformat and start again?  I can see how to do that, but am a bit confused on reactivating the software - it seems you need to un and re-install?

I can cope with tech - just need a bit of guidance for the rather elderly brain!

Welcome to the Community.

The software (WD SmartWare) is installed to and runs from your computer. It does not need to be re-installed. You only need to erase your WD Passport Ultra.

However, an automatic lock is by no means normal behavior. I’d recommend running a drive health test and observe the unit, and it should be replaced if it happens again.
