Lost contact with PC

I use My book Pro for some years. Recently some problems occurred. The connection failed sometimes, but after I pulled out the cable a few times and restarted the computer, the connection was there. But now, since a few days,  the connection is totally lost and I cannot succeed in getting it back. How come? Anyone any idea what to do about it? By the way, I use Windows Vista.

…I saw too late this problem already was an item. But there is not a solution yet. Help! All my pictures are on this ‘safe’ storage.

I had a similar problem, i used some data recovery software to get most of my precious files off the HDD. I would suggest doing the same. There is plenty of them out there.
