The My Cloud app for android requires me to reboot my router and phone every time I want to stream a movie to Chromecast. This is unacceptable. So I was looking to the community for what others are running either on the My Cloud or their phone, or both to solve is irritating “feature”.
Any app with support for DLNA cast should work. BubbleUPnP seems to be popular.
If using iOS devices try using FIleBrowser, it costs a mere $6, it has a Chromecast icon for streaming media, including movies.
I have a Chromecast which is a pretty limited device and I hardly ever use it. For $10 more you can buy an Amazon Fire TV stick which runs rings around a Chromecast for streaming movies when you install the free Kodi app on the Fire TV.
