I have been locked out of my extrenal drive because I have typed in the password incorrectly 5 times! I unplugged the drive, waited 30 seconds and put it back in but still got the same message that all I could do was re-format the drive!! I do not want to do this as I have some valuable stuff on the drive. I have lost the cd that came with the drive as well!! Can I do something about this or am I screwed??!!

Managed to sort it out. It reset itself when I switched the PC off and then I got rid of the password protection. All is good!

The next step is to make a backup of your valuable data onto a different hard drive in case it happens again.
Buy a another hard drive (preferably one that has no password protection) backup your important data to it … then store the hard drive in a Security Safe.
