Local shares & Registered user & Web apps

Just received MCH as discounted replacement for MyBookLive which had to be disconnected from the Network! So, apologies for newbie questions.

(1) Tried Time Machine Backup from my MAC, eventually to discover that TM backups only work for Guest login. My wife also has MacBook Air and also likes to use Tm Backups - how do we distinguish them ?

(2) I see references to a web app - how do I access this and is there a link to show what it can do ?

(3) TM backup asked for a registered user - how do I + my missus register as users so that we can use the local shares ?

Read it all the way through BEFORE I received the drive - not really much help at all. I have located & used the web app myself thanks but would welcome a helpful answer or even a hint on my other questions !
